Once a strong pillar of Indian hockey Dhanraj Pillai meets up with 4Ps B&M

Are you excited about the Hockey World Cup happening in India?
Definitely! I hope this will attract Indian audience towards this sport.

When was the first time you touched a hockey stick?
It was with my brother and friend. You won’t believe, it was a broken hockey stick.

What’s hidden beyond the ebony-skinned and long-haired Pillai?
I have never hidden anything and I have been always known as a very transparent person. At times people think I am very scary, but in reality the more you get to know me, you discover the comfort zone hidden in me…

You are a first-class player in a sport that receives a second-class treatment in this country!
Yes. But that doesn’t de-motivate me anymore. I have got enough recognition from the Government.

What’s the drawback of being in sports?
You will remain the talk of the town till you are in the team. Once you are out, nobody even cares what happens to you.

In one word you are...
Genuine and authentic, I never did what didn’t convince me.

What turns you off?
When somebody plays with my trust. I feel really bad when I trust someone and he/she cheats me.
